About the role The Finance Service in Cambridgeshire is focused on stewardship of funds on behalf of local taxpayers and promoting value for money across the County Council. We are a diverse team of finance professionals which is highly regarded across the organisation. We are recruiting a Senior Finance Business Partner to support the council’s Place & Sustainability directorate, which covers services such as highways, major capital projects, waste disposal and environmental services. Working alongside a Strategic Finance Business Partner, you will have a portfolio of council services to provide finance support to, and will manage at least one member of staff. Interviews are likely to take place in week commencing 20 January 2025. The role is subject to a non-contractual market factor supplement of £4,680 through to at least March 2025. For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Stephen Howarth at finance@cambridgeshire.gov.uk What will you be doing? You will be responsible for providing finance business partnering support to a portfolio of council services, and being the business partner to several service directors. This will include managing finance support to services through the whole financial cycle, from medium-term financial planning and budget setting, to in-year financial monitoring, to accounts production. This role has a focus on the directorate’s capital programme, and will need to have a focus on financial governance. About you We're looking to appoint a committed and self-motivated finance professional to bring energy and expertise to this role. As well as strong technical skills, you will be able to build relationships with heads of service and directors to support the council in delivering its ambitions. You will be a fully-or part-qualified accountant, a problem solver, and able to pro-actively manage a varying workload that requires input from a range of peers and customers. Experience of working within a local authority would be very useful, but any finance professional working at, or aspiring to work at, this level is welcome to apply.
