The Senior Fisheries Biologist focuses on projects that involve research or assessments and/or restoration of terrestrial, freshwater, and/or marine ecosystems. This role involves using different tools and equipment to deliver projects involving the assessment and conservation of Pacific salmon species (chinook, coho, sockeye, pink/chum) and other aquatic species (steelhead and trout). This exciting opportunity as a Senior Fisheries Biologist will involve leading and supporting projects, coordinating and organizing field teams, and supporting business development through project coordination, proposal writing, mentoring team members, and participating in internal process development and implementation. What you will do

Support existing clients of LGL and develop new opportunities with existing or new clients, with a focus on Indigenous clients. Conduct project work to standards expected of the profession. Develop and review complex project proposals. Conduct fieldwork and coordinate project logistics, including scheduling staff, liaising with site contacts, and planning field trips. Problem solving and change management as it relates to project/field work. Project management including client contact, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination. Collect data/information through office work and fieldwork. Data management and analysis, including the safe and proper handling of data. Report on project development/timelines/outcomes to internal and external stakeholders. Requirements

What you will bring

Bachelor of Science degree. RPBio designation (or eligibility to obtain this designation). Familiarity working with Pacific salmon species. At least 10 years of applied biology experience. At least 3 years of project management experience, working from the design stage to the reporting stage. Experience working on population assessments and other assessment projects (mark-recapture, tagging, weirs, fences, traps, catch monitoring, etc.). Competence with field equipment and logistics. Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills. Experience developing and managing complex projects including proposals, budgets, schedules, and deliverables. Indigenous cultural awareness and familiarity with Indigenous communities and customs in British Columbia. Experience working with different federal, provincial, and local/indigenous government policies and frameworks. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 depending on the applicant's experience specific to the role. Contact Information
