This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced FPGA design engineer to join a start-up involved with the research, development, and design of optics/photonic technologies. Their technologies radically improve network speed and energy efficiency.
This FPGA design role requires:
Excellent VHDL and RTL experience coupled with the use of tools such as Quartus and QuestaSim. Able to define microarchitectures. Extensive hands-on industry experience of FPGA design for network applications at 100Gbps and above. Experience with embedded systems, including soft processors (Nios/Microblaze/RISC V) and SoC programming. Experience with high-performance FPGA devices: Cyclone V, Intel Agilex 7, or Xilinx Versal Premium. Experience using PCIe, CXL, RDMA, DDR4, bare metal use of high-speed transceivers, Ethernet, IP. Excellent communication, organisation, and motivational skills. The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, start-up organisation. Knowledge of high-speed network interface and optical transceiver systems would be preferable.
You will need a strong electronics product development background, and experience with high-speed network interface or optical transceiver products would be excellent.
Skills / Experience required: A degree or master's in a relevant subject area (e.g., electronics engineering). Experience of FPGA design for products used in high-speed networking applications – e.g., optical transceivers, network/data centre electronics, telecoms systems, storage/servers/HPC, consumer electronics, or specialist test and measurement products.
