At Hardwood Landscapes, our maintenance offering is young, exciting and growing.
We are looking to take on an experienced horticulturist / team leader to join our maintenance team. We have some fantastic gardens and we are proud to maintain and continue to elevate these to exceeding standards.
In this position you will be supporting the Head of Horticulture in supervising junior gardeners and maintenance operators while taking ownership of your own gardens to maintain. This role would require a hands-on and practical approach, to ensure that the standard is replicated in a good manner.
We pride ourselves on teaching good horticultural practices to the less experienced members of the team and a progression-focused work ethic is encouraged to those wanting to train in certain aspects of gardening, you should be able to support this. In turn, the Head of Horticulture will help to identify areas for your own development and will mentor you, assisting you in continuing your own journey.
As a senior gardener / horticulturalist you will have very good plant knowledge and be well versed in garden maintenance techniques, be aware of effective routines for machinery maintenance, be health and safety aware, have a sharp eye for detail, an ability to supervise teams and communicate with clients.

Duties
Oversee and execute landscape maintenance activities, including planting, pruning, and weeding.
Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for various gardening tasks.
Monitor plant health, identifying any issues related to pests or diseases, and take appropriate action.
Maintain garden equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working condition.
Collaborate with other team members to design and enhance garden layouts.
Provide guidance and training to junior gardening staff on best practices in groundskeeping.
Take ownership of gardens and maintain them to the highest standard.
Support the Head of Horticulture in client communication and gardens management.
Qualifications
Proven experience in gardening or landscape maintenance, with a strong knowledge of horticulture.
Level 3 qualification in Horticulture.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude.
Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
A passion for growing plants and enhancing outdoor spaces through effective groundskeeping practices.
