Career Opportunities: Senior Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Consultant
ACS is an important provider of Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental consultancy services to the construction, infrastructure, minerals and waste management sectors across Southern England, the Midlands and Wales. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint additional full-time members of the Geoscience Team, based from our Head Office in Poole/Bournemouth, in the Dorset AONB offering a unique opportunity to relocate to a highly desirable region of the United Kingdom. We are anticipating that these roles will be of senior / working towards principal level, depending on experience and qualifications.
Key responsibilities will include:
Client liaison, formulation of work scopes and the preparation of costed proposals;
Specifying and providing supervision of site investigation works and more junior members of staff onsite;
Preparation and oversight of geotechnical and geo-environmental site investigation reports, including liaison with Clients and Regulators;
Checking of geotechnical and geo-environmental site investigation reports, ensuring that the team continues to deliver work which is of high quality;
Undertaking detailed site walkovers and site visits required high level input from senior members of the team;
Experience mentoring, training and career development of junior staff;
Project administration using our laboratory management system (LIMS) including invoicing, purchasing of high value services and sub-contractor authorisation.
The candidate should have the following attributes:
A first degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geotechnics or Geology. A first degree in another Earth Science or Engineering discipline is acceptable where the candidate shows significant, demonstrable experience in the required disciplines;
At least 5-10 years’ experience of specifying site investigations, materials and in-situ testing schedules, interpreting results, carrying out data analysis and reporting to clients;
Working towards chartered membership of the Geological Society or Institute of Civil Engineers; experienced and proficient in the checking and approval of technical reports;
Ideally the candidate will demonstrate several specific areas of technical competency, such as: foundation / geotechnical design, contaminated land, slope stability assessment, remediation design, hydrogeology etc.;
The ability to communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues and clients, using verbal and written skills;
Experience of mentoring and leading junior staff;
Able and enthused to develop work with clients. Someone who is motivated to look for work and to meet and develop a good relationship with clients.
Job Details:
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent;
Core Working Hours: 08:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, with a requirement for overtime working when necessary;
