Job summary Having won a 20-year contract to provide highways design services across East Anglia, my client is looking for a Senior Highway Engineer to join them and help deliver a wide range of road safety, active travel, and other highway-related projects. Key skills required for this role Important Our client, a leading Design Consultancy in the Highways sector, is looking for a Senior Highways Design Engineer to join their team in Ipswich. In this role, you will be responsible for producing design solutions to maintain and improve highway infrastructure across the whole of Suffolk. As a Senior Design Engineer, this role will see you play a key role in overseeing the coordination of design deliverables, ensuring compliance with quality standards and legal requirements, and managing multi-disciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities: Senior lead on the coordination of design deliverables to achieve project outcomes Delivery of projects to agreed time, cost, and quality expectations Resource planning and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams Ensuring compliance with internal quality standards and processes Compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation Staff and people management, including training and development, performance reviews, and performance management Working collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives Managing and developing customer relationships Key Skills & Requirements: Chartered Engineer or a highly experienced Engineer working towards C Eng (minimum 10 years relevant experience required) Evidence of leading multi-disciplinary projects to achieve program, cost, and quality expectations Extensive design and construction experience in highways, including review of design software outputs Experience of commercial awareness in project delivery Extensive experience of Local Authority design standards and contracts Evidence of developing and mentoring staff Experience of design resource planning and program management Evidence of managing Health & Safety in design and construction Computer literate, particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word Experience of the NEC suite of contract documents and contract administration UK/EEC driving license Our client offers a competitive salary along with a range of benefits including 28 days' annual leave plus 8 days' bank holiday, a pension scheme, life assurance, employee discount platform, and group-wide career opportunities.
