Working closely with the Head of Operations and Senior Leadership Team, the Senior HR Advisor will be responsible for managing and delivering the provision of high-quality Human Resources support to the charity, acting as the custodian of people systems, people process, and people policy. Supporting the organisation and its people through the next phase of transformational change and beyond, the Senior HR Advisor will provide guidance across the full employee lifecycle, lead on and deliver HR projects, and identify opportunities for people focused solutions aligned to the organisations Vision, Mission and Values.
Responsibilities include:
Recruitment and onboarding
Oversee and coordinate recruitment and performance management processes Ensure vacancies and recruitment processes support the development of Paces employer brand Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, working with hiring managers to agree an effective approach for new vacancies including advertising, and alignment to the critical Safer Recruitment pledge Advise on recruitment and selection strategies, defining question banks, training managers on interviewing and evaluation techniques where required Deliver inductions and manage the onboarding process, supporting line managers to deliver an effective introduction to the organisation HR systems and data
Lead the integration, roll out and training of a new People Management system Use HR information and data to monitor key people metrics including recruitment, absence, engagement, and update the SMT through relevant channels (key meetings, dashboards, risk registers) Oversee sickness, absence and holiday management data, working with managers to reduce the risk of long-term absence and driving accountability and empowerment through the line HR Policies and Procedures
Liaise with the SMT and monitor, review and amend the organisation’s HR policies and procedures Provide expert advice and guidance on latest HR legislation Respond to the changing needs of the organisation by developing new policy where required Support, train and advise staff on HR policies and procedures, including performance reviews, personal development, line management, disciplinary and grievance procedures as required Manage the disciplinary, grievance and investigations processes Training and Development
Working with the SMT and external partners to ensure the delivery of Paces people development strategy and associated plans Staff Engagement and Wellbeing
Promote a positive culture of wellbeing, fairness and inclusion across the organisation Work with senior leaders to consult with staff on job satisfaction, supporting action plans to address focus areas, and monitoring progress Support the delivery of engagement surveys across the organisation and associated action plans Record Keeping/Compliance
Work with Paces DPO to keep records in accordance with the charity’s record retention schedule and data protection law, ensuring information security and confidentiality at all times Conduct regular HR audits to ensure compliance and best practice, utilising industry expertise for best approach External Consultants and Legal Support
Work with external providers to ensure the best quality provision of people development related resources, tools and advice Coordinate and manage external legal and/or professional HR advice where necessary HR projects
Identify areas for continuous improvement and driving efficiencies through people projects PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience
Proven experience (3 years +) of providing HR advice and support Experience of leading, advising and supporting management staff in HR and employment law and procedures, including recruitment, training, performance management, disciplinary and grievance. Experience of working with external professionals and of seeking external advice when appropriate. Experience of developing, managing and operating HR systems. Experience of working in an SME or charity of a similar size (c100 employees). Experience of working within and educational setting. Knowledge/ Skills
Excellent knowledge of employment law. Understanding of data protection and confidentiality processes. Ability to use a range of I.T. packages in support of the role. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Good time management. Ability to build effective working relationships with staff and a range of other stakeholders. Knowledge of safer recruitment in a safeguarding environment. Qualifications/ Training
Relevant qualification / CiPD level 3 or equivalent. Willingness to attend recommended training programmes for their own professional development. Work Circumstances /Personal Qualities
