The Role
As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, you will provide multifaceted engineering support, including engineering design and technical advice across all sectors of the organisation. You will operate within a specific delivery area, fostering and maintaining robust relationships with colleagues from different disciplines and internal clients to ensure cohesive progress. A key aspect of this role involves the line management of technical staff, overseeing the technical outputs of the engineering discipline team. Additionally, as a mentor, you will guide and supervise the professional development of emerging engineers within the company, playing a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of engineering talent.

Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarize yourself with the site, the team, and your role.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with other disciplines and internal clients.
Deliver a range of projects and provide technical engineering advice, including data gathering and analysis, design, calculations, document preparation, and review of proposals.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and Quality Management Systems, acting as the Designer in accordance with Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
Develop and improve engineering standards and procedures, and raise the profile of UU technical leadership through technical papers and STEM activities.
Mentor and supervise developing engineers while maintaining and developing personal engineering expertise.
Skills & Experience:
Chartered professional engineer, or can present a tangible plan to obtain Chartership within the first 12 months of tenure.
Extensive knowledge and experience of hydraulic design of wastewater and water treatment works and networks.
Knowledge and experience of hydraulic design of wastewater and water treatment works and networks, including awareness of transient analysis, hydrology, CFD and physical modelling.
Working knowledge and experience of capital and strategic engineering projects in highly technical and commercial environments.
Experience of providing technical advice, influencing and directing the delivery of successful engineering outcomes and working on capital and strategic engineering projects in highly technical and commercial environments.
Hold a current UK/EU driving licence.
