Senior IT Project Manager (Internal Candidates Only. Closing 12/01) About The Role Are you a dynamic and experienced IT Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering complex and large IT projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards? Are you also looking for the next step in your career progression, taking on extra responsibilities such as people management & greater responsibility for projects in a portfolio? We’re looking for someone with a strong background in managing a variety of IT technology projects, but also with the ability to lead & manage a team of project managers and work closely with senior internal and external stakeholders. You will have 5-7 years of experience as a Project Manager with a proven track record in delivering large & complex projects & programmes from infrastructure and networking, hardware, software to regulatory and cybersecurity, within a fast-paced and demanding environment. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are not only completed successfully but also align with the strategic objectives of the business. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and resource allocation to build, test, delivery and handover to post-implementation support. You’ll work closely with project sponsors, senior IT managers, and various cross-functional teams, as well as suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver on time, so that all projects are executed efficiently and effectively. The role will also programme manage over the strategy and success of multiple connected projects within an IT portfolio, leading other project managers, managing multiple stakeholders, communicating effectively across all levels of the organisation and taking ownership of risk management & budgets at the programme level. The position also involves supporting IT PMO activities such as demand & portfolio management and leading portfolio prioritisation meetings as required. You will also be responsible for line managing a small team of project managers, leading by example, supporting them with their project delivery, managing escalation & problem solving. Performing 121s, performance reviews and guiding on their personal development. So, what are we looking for? A solid track record in managing diverse IT projects. Project Management qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2, or Agile APM, along with practical experience in these methodologies. Experience of managing people and teams. Experience of working with demand & portfolio management processes. Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with proven experience in customer engagement and supplier management. Experience in managing projects within a matrix organisation and familiarity with ITIL practices. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail and high standards of work. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and handle competing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
