Senior Laboratory Engineer About the role: To carry out test work on a defined range of products to agreed quality, standards and timescales. To write up clear, accurate and complete test reports. Working to evaluate and test products and/or services – primarily for safety, efficiency, fit for purpose and/or bespoke customer requirements. Key Responsibilities will include: To liaise with clients, and advise on the status of work to facilitate premier customer service & on-time delivery on all work and projects. Respond to customer queries and provide technical support. Develop technical skills to enhance own skills & ability to carry out testing work across a wide variety of laboratories, equipment and standards or client bespoke requirements. Conduct client visits (on-site) as required. Operate in line with quality and safety procedures to ensure compliance with the organisation’s and legislative requirements and the requirements of ISO 17025. Carry out test work. Test in line with standards, procedures or client needs. Maintain traceable records & results. Produce quality test reports in a timely manner or project status reports as requested. Liaise with calibration department on the maintenance and use of the correct equipment to carry out testing. Maintain good housekeeping in the Lab, office with all electronics data storage. Report and escalate issues in testing which impact performance or quality of results. Collaborate and communicate with colleagues, suppliers, locations and clients to facilitate a seamless service thru the whole BSI supply chain. Support local and global teams to drive growth & improvement for PC business globally. A Senior Test Engineer is additionally expected to: Undertake quotation work and lead generation for respective Laboratory. Work as project lead or closely support project leader as required. Use experience as a technical expert, taking lead to review standards, writing procedures and similar work in your area as a subject matter expert. Train and develop others in the team, acting as a role model to the direct Lab team. Perform internal audits between Laboratories. Deputise for Team Leader during absence, holiday, meetings or other busy periods.
