We have ambitions to deliver recovery and renewal for people, businesses and places across South Yorkshire. Please note that SYMCA follows a structured salary grading system for all roles, and the offered salary for each post will be at the starting point within the specified grade. We value the skills and experience of potential candidates, and there will be opportunities for salary enhancements as you grow within South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. *Please note, applications must be accompanied by a detailed cover letter to outline your suitability for the role. Interviews are expected to take place towards the mid/late February 2025. Key Responsibilities

The work involves supporting the delivery of the Organisation's priorities and protecting the interests of the Mayor and the Combined Authority and its Subsidiary companies. You will lead and manage your own portfolio of matters, work with the wider team on larger legal projects and supervise the work of junior Lawyers or non-qualified junior members of the team. You’ll be responsible for proactively identifying legal issues at the earliest opportunity to support the planning and delivery of the Group and its subsidiary companies’ plans and activities. You will ensure the provision of effective legal support for a wide range of multi-disciplinary projects and programmes, including, the application and interpretation of legislation/guidance and negotiating effective contractual arrangements and other legal documentation. *Please note that this is a politically restricted post.
