Senior Lead - Democratic Services, Civic and Elections Full-time, Permanent Hybrid Working £66,572 - £69,181 Sellick Partnership is thrilled to be assisting a Local Authority in Essex with the recruitment for a Senior Lead - Democratic Services, Civic and Elections. This is an excellent opportunity to lead, co-ordinate, manage and be accountable for two teams, covering democratic services, civic and elections services. The successful candidate will also be supporting the Director of Law & Governance in governance matters and will act as Monitoring Officer for the Council as and when required. Responsibilities of the Senior Lead - Democratic Services, Civic and Elections: Lead and manage teams covering democratic services, civic and elections services. Ensure that meetings of the Council, Cabinet, Committees and Working Parties and the decision-making process operate effectively. Contribute to, or lead on, the development of corporate policies and procedures. Provide professional support, advice and information to all Members of the Council. Work in collaboration with other departments in the preparation, management and introduction of new Members of the Council, including returning Members, and existing Members. Act as Deputy Returning Officer. Maximise the use of information technology to improve services and processes. Experience required for the Senior Lead - Democratic Services, Civic and Elections role: Knowledge of local government structures and procedures. Detailed knowledge of the law and procedures in relation to elections, registration law and committee administration. Knowledge and experience of providing advice to councillors and officers on decision-making processes, overview and scrutiny, and constitutional matters. People management experience.
