Job Description As a Senior Legal Counsel within the Employment team, you will work closely with the Head of Legal for HR & IR and other senior leaders and will be responsible for managing legal risks within the business. This will include: Managing the legal aspects of HR and IR and the associated processes; Providing corporate support advice (in particular in relation to TUPE) to the Corporate, Financial Services, Banking, IT & Procurement teams; Ensuring the provision of high quality (industry leading) legal support to HR and IR area of the business; Proactively managing legal risk of HR and Operations within the business's appetite and overseeing and seeking improvements to the business' legal framework to ensure that HR and IR operates within its governance and the business's agreed processes; Identifying the most efficient and appropriate mix of internal and external legal spend to ensure that costs are sensibly controlled; Overseeing legal budgets within the area of HR and IR and matter management information. The Successful Applicant The successful candidate will be a qualified Lawyer with between 4 and 10 years of PQE (which is based on the level of work on offer, autonomy required and package on offer with this role). They will have: Demonstrable experience of working on Employment Law related matters gained either in an in-house role for a large employer or at a top 100 or nationally recognised law firm; Experience including advising on all elements of UK employment law including on recruitment issues, policies, and procedures, managing internal processes, restructuring and redundancy, and employment tribunal litigation. Desirable: Considerable experience of corporate support work would be a significant advantage. Experience of working for, or with, employers who recognise trade unions, public sector employers, pensions & reward, and employers operating in high-profile environments would be an advantage.
