We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in production environments and a passion for research and innovation. You will explore and research the state-of-the-art in machine learning, creating novel methods to solve currently unsolved problems in SME financing. Join us in building advanced ML to help transform the financial sector of SME financing worldwide! Responsibilities: Experience with developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact. Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and implement ML solutions to enhance our underwriting tech stack. Conduct research to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and apply these findings to develop innovative solutions. Prototype, gather data and test new ideas, iterating quickly to evaluate their potential impact. Optimize and maintain existing ML models in production, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and reliability. Communicate findings, progress, and challenges to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Requirements: Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or similar role in a production environment. Strong proficiency in developing, documenting and debugging with Python, Shell Scripting and/or any other scripting/programming language. Experience with ML frameworks and libraries such as PyTorch, Transformers, etc. Ability to read and understand research papers, implement models, and make them production-ready by ensuring they meet strict cost, latency, and business requirements. Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or Ph.D in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience in several of the following areas: Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Statistical Methods or related fields. Ability to research and develop methods that challenge you to step out of your comfort zone, fostering significant learning and personal growth. Experience in model serving and deployment. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Contributions to open-source (ML) projects, articles or publications is a plus.
