Accountable to the Head of Management Accounts, but working very closely with a Divisional Finance Manager, this post is responsible for providing a high quality, pro-active management accounting service to the Trust's Estates & Facilities and Digital Services division. This includes the production of the monthly accounts, analysis of the divisional financial position, production of the annual accounts, setting and maintaining budgets, and providing advice and support to budget managers dealing with complex financial issues.
Under the direction of the Divisional Finance Manager, this post is responsible for ensuring that the Division receives excellent financial support and advice to enable them to manage and develop their services.
The post holder is required to manage a small team consisting of Management Accountants. Main duties of the job
Responsible for managing a small team to ensure the provision of a pro-active management accounting service to the Division.
Responsible for managing the production of the monthly management accounts for a Division, in line with the agreed timetable and ensuring strict deadlines are met.
To have a knowledgeable overview of all the budget areas, understanding the key financial issues, and communicating them to divisional managers.
The finance team at University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust has a strong reputation for training and developing finance professionals. Person specification Knowledge and Experience
Working in a management accounting environment
Producing monthly management accounts to deadlines
Preparing year end management accounts in line with audit requirements
A high level of knowledge of management accounting techniques
Highly developed specialist accounting knowledge
Working with non-financial managers to provide financial information and advice
Working with computerised finance systems and Excel
Practical experience of implementing advanced management accounting techniques with minimal supervision
Experience of managing a small team
Working within finance in the NHS
Skills and Abilities
Professional approach and ability to work pro-actively and in an organised manner
Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information
Ability to manage and motivate a small team
Ability to lead and contribute to meetings with senior managers
Qualifications and Training
Degree Level Education or AAT qualified
Studying towards a recognised CCAB qualification (E at Band 7, D at Band 6)
