Job Description: Based at our site in Caldicot, South Wales and reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be an integral part of the Operations team developing microelectronic modules and manufacturing processes for medical, high power automotive and high speed optical communication markets, where small size and high reliability are critical. Microchip's Caldicot site is responsible for designing and delivering the next generation of advanced electronic module solutions for global technology markets. Our markets include medical applications, automotive, aerospace and renewable energy. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will contribute to the growth and continued success of the company, by supporting the development of its next generation products and in driving the business towards its quality and productivity goals. You will have the opportunity to influence every stage of the product development cycle, from early-stage R&D to fulfilment of high-volume production orders by leading process improvement and development projects within the established process team. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Ownership of key manufacturing processes with an aim to implement continuous improvement in process and product development Applying engineering science to the development of new and novel manufacturing solutions Taking a lead role in team projects and acting as a mentor for team members with less experience. Contributing value engineering and design for manufacture (DFM) input to product development Applying Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques with the aim of right-first-time product and process development. Facilitating risk-management activities including Process FMEA in a concurrent engineering environment. Conducting structured process validation, including Design of Experiments (DoE) Deliver improvements in cycle times, scrap levels and throughput through disciplined problem solving and continuous improvement techniques applied to all elements of the manufacturing system Managing prototype and pre-production manufacturing builds in-house and liaising with customers and suppliers throughout the product life cycle Requirements/Qualifications: Degree-level educated in a manufacturing/engineering related discipline 5+ years experience of working in a manufacturing facility Results focused and improvement driven Structured and systematic approach to tasks and communications Strong team facilitation and project management abilities Practical and resourceful Travel Time: 0% - 25% To all recruitment agencies:
