The person in this role will be responsible for:

Review and measure current manufacturing processes, identify waste, opportunities for improvement and agree improvement targets.

Agree plans and targets with Manufacturing Team Leaders.

Promote a Continuous Improvement culture through training and coaching of cross functional teams on process improvement techniques.

Measure the key business metrics of product yield and wRMA rate.

Define and implement projects to improve these and measure effectiveness of the improvements.

Prepare and present data driven improvements to stakeholders across the business to share understanding and secure resources from outside operations.

Champion shop floor Lean/six sigma programs and initiatives.

Establish and implement six sigma standards throughout the manufacturing facility and drive compliance and adherence to these standards.

Design shop floor layouts to support new product introduction and process re-engineering of existing products.

Determine special purpose and standard tooling requirements to support the manufacture of all products and implement as required.

Create and maintain manufacturing shop floor documentation for new and existing products in alignment with company standards and issues identified by Team Leaders including work instructions, inspection checklists and other quality system documents.

Support vendor cost, quality and delivery performance in the supply of sub assembly products and services.

Support Team Leaders in the communication of performance issues to vendors and demonstrate improvements delivered.

Ensure New Product Introductions (NPI) & Engineering change are implemented effectively and both product & processes are productionised and repeatable.

Support the Manufacturing Team Leaders and Facilities team in delivering a safe and efficient working environment including 5S principles.

Become a process expert for critical business processes and technologies.

Openly share knowledge and experience with colleagues and provide training and guidance for other engineers.

What we are looking for:

A degree/HND in Manufacturing and/or Electronics engineering or relevant equivalent experience.

Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques with a proven track record of delivering positive cost, quality and performance results.

Demonstrated ability to utilise structured problem solving methodologies.

Working knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Management System.

Knowledge of Project Management techniques and experience leading cross functional project teams.

Working knowledge of design processes (DFx), new product introduction and product lifecycle management.

Computer literate with experience of using ERP/MRP systems such as production routings and BOM Structures.

Knowledge of Mechanical Assemblies, X-ray detection, vacuum systems, or Electron Microscopy, will be dependent on area of expertise.
