Senior Market Intelligence & Customer Insight Specialist Full Time, Permanent We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about how data and insight can be used to improve commercial outcomes. As an important member of the Customer Experience & Marketing Team at MSC UK, you will work alongside our commercial teams

to identify new opportunities, define target audiences and ultimately grow our business. At MSC, we are continuing to evolve our use of market intelligence and customer insights to inform our commercial approach. The scope of this role includes the identification, collection, and communication of customer information such as customer size, type,

sector, sentiment, commodities transported, product/service usage and buying behaviours. Success is always a team effort, but this is your chance to utilise your analytical mindset, commercial acumen and relationship-building skills to drive adoption of a data-informed approach across our marketing and commercial teams. How you will help and what you can expect Create a strategic roadmap for Market Intelligence and Customer Insight.

Utilise a range of tools and methods to gather market information and customer data such as macroeconomic trends, competitor information, customer feedback, geography, size, sector, commodity, trade direction and product/service uptake.

Use your expertise to inform marketing strategy and planning for projects across the Customer Experience & Marketing team.

Segment MSC’s UK customer base and generate target contact data for marketing communication campaigns.

Draw inferences from data to identify important commercial insights, trends, opportunities and risks.

Present insight findings to a range of stakeholders via concise presentations and reports that clearly identify commercial implications, opportunities and potential next actions.

Identify and implement new opportunities for insight and intelligence that build commercial understanding.

Contribute to MSC UK’s cross-business data working group, to continually improve data governance and alignment across our organisation.

Align UK-specific insight projects with the global approach to Market Intelligence and Customer Insight, by collaborating closely with Global Marketing counterparts and working in accordance with relevant frameworks.

Skills and experience you’ll bring to us You’ll be confident in your analytical and interpretation skills, including the ability to join the dots between various sources of market and customer data to identify commercial opportunities. You will also bring the following skills and experience to

this important role: Experience in a role where you have generated insights from data and utilised your commercial acumen to deliver business benefit.

Strong understanding of how tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Excel can be utilised for data analysis and insight purposes.

The ability to understand MSC’s commercial priorities and identify opportunities for insight provision that can be actioned to provide a positive ROI.

The ability to apply insight frameworks and approaches such as customer segmentation, customer lifecycle, etc.

Natural curiosity and imagination to explore relationships between a range of data sources, to discover trends, patterns and insights that are commercially useful to the business.

The ability to go beyond just presenting existing data, to draw inferences, derive key insights and influence commercial next steps.

The skill to communicate sometimes complicated material, verbally and in writing, in a way that is easy to understand at all levels of our business.

Strong relationship building ability, with the confidence and communication skills required to influence and inspire those around you.

The drive and determination to ensure that an insight-led approach is embraced by key stakeholders and considered in business decision making.

Experience of managing key stakeholders, keeping them informed and involved as required.

Understanding of the shipping and logistics sector (desirable).
