About the Role
  • Deliver against Marketing KPIs for Springer Nature journals to meet agreed commercial goals including manuscript submissions targets
  • Develop programs and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness, champion scalable techniques to deliver highly personalised, customer centric programme marketing
  • Consistently manage channel mix and tactics to drive efficiency and ensure maximum impact
  • This role is part of the loyalty marketing team, focusing on loyalty and attraction journeys for societies, authors, EBMs and Peer Reviewers.
We are looking for an independent, experienced marketer that is comfortable with a data-driven and customer-centric approach to marketing and who is confident working in a fast-paced environment of innovation with experience in managing digital channels including email.

Role Responsibilities:
  • 50% of this role is focused on society journals including supporting society RFPs and larger society retention activities
  • Including line Management of 2 marketing managers (focused on society journals)
  • Development and management of marketing programmes for society journals and partners
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams to identify promotional opportunities
  • Develop and provide society journal marketing reporting
  • The other 50% of this role is focused on loyalty marketing programmes across the journal portfolio
  • Active involvement in the development and optimization of loyalty marketing programmes for key audience segments with the goal to increase repeat submission
  • Collaborate across Research Marketing to deliver high quality customer centric marketing programmes to support portfolio goals
  • Prioritization and coordination of marketing plans and resources
  • Ensure high quality campaign delivery
  • Continual monitoring, improvement and optimization of on-going marketing programmes
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide a value story for marketing
  • Proactively provide management with updates on marketing activities, ROI and budget
  • Manage promotional budget for paid marketing activities
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and competition in order to plan effective campaigns based on new opportunities
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential
  • Strong understanding of marketing needs and target personas in publishing research landscape
  • Proven experience developing and implementing effective and efficient marketing plans connecting strategy with the right tactics and channels
  • Experience with marketing automation journeys
  • Adaptation in response to continuous monitoring of program performance and a changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in global environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration capabilities
  • Positive attitude towards and actively driving change
  • Ability to work well in a matrix and cross functional team structure
  • High competence in project management and stakeholder management
  • Excellent digital marketing and customer engagement skillset
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills

Desirable
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience of working in a global, matrix team would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the academic publishing industry
