An exciting opportunity has opened in our communications team for a Senior Marketing Officer.

This new role will be responsible for coordinating and implementing marketing campaigns for Newcastle Hospitals Charity to support a wide range of programmes and services.

We're looking for a proactive creative individual who can manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines, making sure that campaigns are delivered on time and on brand.

The post holder will develop a marketing plan aligned to the Charity's strategic objectives and support the communications manager to implement the Charity's marketing and communications strategy.

This role requires an enthusiastic candidate with excellent communications skills and senior level experience of developing and delivering marketing plans.

You will support the promotion of a communications culture throughout the organisation and assist in promoting the reputation of the Charity, increasing visibility internally as well as externally.

As a key member of the Newcastle Hospitals Charity team, this role will play a pivotal role in supporting the Charity to deliver its five-year strategy to make a real difference to patients, staff and the wider communities across Newcastle Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

Co-ordinate key marketing campaigns for Newcastle Hospitals Charity, building relationships with internal and external delivery partners. Produce a marketing plan aligned to the Charity's strategic objectives. Assist in promoting the reputation of the Charity and increasing visibility both externally and within Newcastle Hospitals. Support the promotion of a communications culture throughout the organisation including providing advice, support and guidance on the appropriate presentation of communication for all levels of the organisation. Ensure the development and delivery of a range of communication and initiatives to enable the Charity to achieve its strategic aims. Support in the development and management of the Charity's website, intranet and social media sites as key communication and marketing tools, ensuring they are regularly updated.

Job responsibilities

Co-ordinate marketing campaigns for Charity, building relationships with internal and external delivery partners to ensure campaigns and tactics are delivered on brand, on brief and on time, and that they clearly demonstrate return on investment. Assisting in promoting the reputation of the Charity and increasing visibility internally as well as externally. Contributing to, and assisting with, the delivery of marketing strategies and associated communication and engagement initiatives to enable the Charity to deliver on its strategic objectives. This will include leading aspects of the marketing strategy as appropriate. Developing and implementing tactical campaign plans to support a complex array of programmes and services, working closely with key internal audiences as well as external partners. Working as part of a small communication/marketing team to provide a high quality, professional and proactive service to the Charity that implements best practice and seeks innovative ways to support the Charity in achieving its objectives. Supporting events management e.g. donor stewardship and cultivation events. Work as part of the Trusts communication team to identify and maximise opportunities to support fundraising opportunities for the charity, and also further raise the profile of the charity. Deputising for the Communication Manager, as necessary, in providing communications, marketing and media handling advice to managers, staff and committees. Working closely with the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation Committee and clinical staff to lead, develop and co-ordinate a marketing campaign for a new capital programme of work. Ensuring the Charity identity guidelines, industry standards/guidelines are adhered to.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential

Degree level education and/or equivalent level of qualification or experience in a similar role (e.g. Marketing/ Media / Journalism / Web publishing).

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

Relevant experience in communications and/or marketing to post graduate level or demonstrable experience. This must include social/web-based media. Senior level experience of developing, managing and delivering annual marketing plans (direct and digital) to increase awareness. Demonstrable experience in a large, complex organisation. Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines and regulation. Experience of inter-agency working involving multiple and diverse partners.

Desirable

Good understanding of the NHS environment. Experience of working at a similar level in the NHS or other healthcare environment. Experience of developing, delivering and managing marketing campaigns for a charity. Web publishing and content management. Have a good understanding of current and emerging technologies that support delivery and management of key communications, this includes social media.

Skills & Abilities

Essential

Excellent communication skills - written and verbal. Good interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to communicate complex information to a range of audiences at all levels within the organisation and externally, including the ability to write website copy, newsletters and a variety of publicity materials for internal and external audience groups. Ability to manage marketing campaign budgets. Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple projects to tight deadlines. Ability to work autonomously with creativity, drive and flexibility. Excellent IT literacy including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) and other relevant IT systems.
