My client designs and manufactures bespoke machinery and fabricated equipment. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong practical skills to join their team in the Surrey area on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

At least 5 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design / Development position Ideally experienced working with machinery, conveyors, rotating equipment, engines, motors, mechatronics and other equipment with moving parts and systems Strong 3D CAD skills – ideally SolidWorks or Inventor Experience in a variety of sectors would be beneficial – Aerospace, Automotive, SPM etc. Hands-on industry experience ideally working in a similar design role within a machine shop / workshop / manufacturing environment Degree / ONC / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering or similar Experienced designing products from concept to production Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry Innovative, accurate and passionate about design Be technically minded with a head for problem solving Excellent leadership and organisational skills Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

Being responsible for the Design and Development of various products and systems Using SolidWorks and Inventor software for design on a day-to-day basis Being responsible for research, hand calculations, FEA, testing and prototyping Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production Creating models/prototypes Liaising with clients and developing solutions for design specifications Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects Maintaining technical drawings and documentation Providing technical guidance and support Supporting product Testing, Verification & Validation Supporting more junior members of the team
