The Role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team within the Offshore Energy product market group in the

North East . The successful candidate will coordinate, provide technical leadership, and ensure the successful delivery of bespoke engineering projects across various markets, including Pipelay, Handling Systems, Subsea Technology, and Defence equipment.

Key Responsibilities: Serving as the design authority and providing technical leadership for a team of engineers to ensure project success, meeting specified timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Supervising and supporting a team of engineers through coaching, mentoring, and providing guidance and intervention when needed. Ensuring the engineering project team fully understands their responsibilities across the project lifecycle (from concept to installation), making key decisions, calling reviews as needed, and approving design documentation. Fostering ownership within the engineering team to drive focus on project delivery and commitment to meeting deadlines. Ensuring compliance with design practices and guidelines and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Job Requirements: Experience working within a multi-disciplinary design environment. Extensive knowledge and experience in the design and manufacture of some or all of the following: Trenchers, Cable/Pipe lay systems, LARS, and bespoke onshore and offshore equipment. Up-to-date understanding of relevant technologies and engineering design techniques. Ability to provide day-to-day technical guidance to the project engineering team, ensuring engineers have clear direction and deliverables. Flexible and knowledgeable, with the ability to work across disciplines and facilitate idea-sharing. Strong analytical and methodical approach to problem-solving with the experience to make key decisions throughout the project lifecycle (from concept design to sea trials). Proven ability to lead, delegate, and support an engineering team to deliver within specifications, budget, and timelines. Capability to produce high-quality work under pressure and work independently with minimal technical supervision. Strong communication and presentation skills. In-depth knowledge of engineering design and associated techniques, including basic mechanics, hand calculations, analysis software (Ansys, Staad Pro), and CAD software

(Inventor, AutoCAD).
