Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer OUTSIDE IR35

Location: Chorley
Working Hours: 4 days a week Mon – Thurs, 9.5 hours per day. Hybrid working pattern.
Contract roles available: at various levels Mechanical Design Engineer, Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and Principal Mechanical Design Engineer.
You will be responsible for creating equipment designs, either independently or by leading a small group of mechanical design engineers. Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will ensure designs adhere to relevant standards and meet project goals in terms of quality, safety, and efficiency.
The focus of the role:
This position is ideal for an experienced mechanical design engineer who enjoys taking on responsibility in a collaborative environment. A person with experience in mechanical system design, working to tight deadlines, and managing technical risks would thrive in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop design concepts, layouts, and detailed engineering documentation.
- Ensure designs conform to British and European standards and meet client requirements.
- Lead a small team of design engineers or work independently, as required.
- Produce design justification reports that address technical risks and safety concerns.
- Manage designs within the constraints of project schedules and budgets.
In return you’ll receive a base salary of between £38 -£60 per hour depending upon experience. Nuclear or Defence background essential.
