As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of mechanical components using Catia V6 for Formula 1 vehicles. Your responsibilities will include designing and optimizing components such as suspensions, brakes, steering systems, and cooling systems to meet the demanding performance requirements of F1 racing. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of your designs into the overall vehicle architecture, contributing to the continuous improvement and innovation of F1 technology. What You Will Do Creating and revising mechanical designs using CATIA/ 3DX to meet project requirements. This involves conceptualizing, 3D modelling, detailing, and creating fully dimensioned drawings. Designing of suspension, brakes, steering systems, cooling systems and other mechanical components according to the specification. Design lightweight structures by considering load paths and packaging requirements to meet performance objectives. Develop assembly sequences and select appropriate joining technologies, including welding, bonding, riveting, and fastening solutions, to ensure structural integrity and assembly efficiency. Managing and maintaining accurate design documentation, including drawings, specifications, BOMs, and engineering change requests. Evaluating and selecting appropriate materials based on mechanical properties, processing requirements, and cost considerations. This involves understanding the strengths and limitations of different materials and their impact on design outcomes. Effectively communicating with internal teams, clients, and manufacturing. What You Need To Succeed Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent R&D design experience. 5 years of professional experience in a similar position. Motorsport background. Good knowledge and experience of Catia V5 / 3DX. Previous experience in designing mechanical assemblies. Knowledge of GD&T principles. Being able to work under limited supervision.
