This role is an all-round role, you will be responsible for all of the technical aspects of projects, managing stakeholders and being customer-facing. Technical ability is important, but you have to be able to deal with customers and be "the face" of the project. Some info on the role below: A) Technical Formally check the analytical work and the reports of other engineers and sign off their work as appropriate. Take on the more challenging work that comes into the business. Create new analysis methods and new applications for existing methods. Support the Engineering Project Manager to ensure a clear and achievable schedule is provided to your engineering team. Plan and facilitate the delivery of the project as an integral part of the team. Ensure that your own work and that of engineers assigned to you is completed within agreed timescales. Regularly monitor the hours used against the progress and raise any potential issues with the Engineering Project Manager as soon as they become evident. Formulate a plan to address any such issues and discuss this with the client if deadlines, cost or scope of work are affected. Be aware of and deal with any project waiting time and aim to maximise the utilisation via the Engineering Team Lead. Develop the technical skills of the engineering team as required by the project. Maintain a watching brief over designated projects: identifying and resolving technical issues. C) People Encourage and motivate your team to deliver by demonstrating drive, commitment, enthusiasm and leadership qualities. Organise and set out day-to-day work for your engineering resource. Ensure good communication throughout the team, making sure data gets to where it needs to be at the earliest opportunity. Coach and mentor your engineering resource to develop its abilities and effectiveness. Propose training as required to the Engineering Team Lead. D) Quality and Safety Ensure personal and team adherence to Quality Management System including, in particular, the verification and validation procedures. Ensure that project team produce a high quality of work which will satisfy (even delight) the customer. Brief the engineering team of possible safety issues when working off site. Create new quality and safety procedures as required by the business. Hold Chartered Engineer status. Formally mentor more junior engineers. Appraise new IT solutions and make recommendations to the Engineering Team Lead. E) Sales and Marketing Assist with the sales and marketing requirements of the business. Prepare quotations and check/approve those prepared by other engineers. Qualifications
