Are you a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer looking to play a key role in delivering critical water infrastructure projects? Our client, a leading contractor in the water industry, is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on transformative Southern Water projects, based out of Ashford, Kent.

Responsibilities:

Lead the mechanical engineering aspects of water infrastructure projects, from concept to completion. Develop detailed mechanical designs and specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil and electrical engineers, to deliver integrated solutions. Oversee the preparation of mechanical drawings, calculations, and technical documentation. Review designs and provide technical guidance to ensure accuracy and feasibility. Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications and evaluating supplier proposals. Resolve mechanical design and construction challenges, providing innovative and practical solutions. Ensure all work adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations. Mentor and develop junior engineers within the team, fostering technical excellence.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, ideally within the water sector or a related infrastructure industry. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, pipelines, and treatment plant equipment. Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and best practices relevant to mechanical engineering. Experience with project delivery frameworks such as Southern Water Framework or similar is highly desirable. A degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (e.g., BEng, MEng). Proficiency in design software and tools, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
