We are currently looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Medical Secretary to join the Care of the Elderly Department within the Medicine Directorate. Main duties of the job

The role requires a Senior Medical Secretary with experience of working on their own initiative at a senior level and is able to offer comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultants and their associated teams. As a Senior Medical Secretary, you will be the first point of contact for patients, doctors, and staff throughout the Health Board. This challenging position requires someone who is a team player, flexible, organised, and able to work well under pressure. The successful candidate will need to be an experienced typist, qualified to RSA Typing Level III (or equivalent). This position also requires excellent communication skills, the ability to meet the demands of working in a busy environment, and the capability to represent the department with due professionalism. This post will be worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday, to ensure continuity for the service. Qualifications

NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience or City & Guilds (AMSPAR) Level 3 Diploma in Medical Administration or equivalent medical secretary experience RSA /OCR Level 3 or equivalent experience or qualification in typing ECDL or equivalent experience Management qualification or working towards NVQ 3 Customer Service Experience

Experience of coordinating administration activities Experience of working as a medical secretary Experience of organising workload and people Previous NHS experience Skills

Advanced typing skills Ability to work unsupervised Excellent organisational skills Ability to prioritise own workload Minute-taking experience Knowledge
