30th January 2025 The opportunity: Are you an experienced Medical Underwriter looking for a new challenge? Zurich Corporate Risk, one of the fastest growing group risk providers in the market, is now looking for an experienced Medical Underwriter. As an experienced Medical Underwriter, you will be responsible for making sound and skilful group life and group income protection underwriting decisions for members of new and existing Corporate schemes. What will you be doing? Make medical underwriting decisions for group life and group income protection within agreed authority limits and in line with the Zurich underwriting philosophy. Provide technical medical underwriting support and guidance to customers and distributors, consistently providing excellent customer service. Keep up to date with medical underwriting philosophy considering experience and market conditions. Use best practices to boost effectiveness and efficiency of our processes. Deliver against key business, team, and individual KPIs. Liaise with Company Medical Officers and reassurance companies as needed. Maintain external distributor relationships by consistently requesting the correct evidence, making the correct decision, and explaining non-standard decisions. Complete a range of queries and referrals within agreed authority limits, measuring exposure and analyzing the risk of each case to maintain underwriting standards. Identify opportunities for improvement by monitoring underwriting business processes. Ensure robust governance is maintained across the team, remaining compliant at all times. Share best practices with other team members. Provide a standout service experience for customers and stakeholders. Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture. Take responsibility for delivering quality and timely output to our customers through ownership of own workload and supporting colleagues to deliver team workload. What are we looking for? Medical underwriting experience in either the corporate or protection environment. CII Diploma in Underwriting preferred but not essential. Awareness of the corporate risk market in the UK. Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, regulations, and guidelines. Ability to effectively assess risk, using excellent judgement and decision-making skills. Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on quality. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to contribute to a positive and supportive team culture. Able to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels. Passionate about customers and driving through Continuous Improvement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Challenge processes, priorities, strategies, use of resources, and business decisions to help deliver best results. What will you get in return?
