We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hospital Liaison Clinician to work with the Scarborough Acute Hospital Liaison Service (AHLS) based at Scarborough General Hospital (SGH) for a 12 month fixed term/secondment period. The AHLS Team works into A&E and the hospital wards, supporting adults with a range of mental health symptoms and safety needs. People referred to the AHLS Team may also have complex comorbid physical health and social needs. A special interest in alcohol and substance misuse is desirable. As a Band 6, you will be part of a dynamic, welcoming, and professional multi-disciplinary team (MDT) that provides support, assessments, and guidance to SGH. We will offer you training and supervision that ensures you have the knowledge and skills to enable you to effectively and safely assess and support service users presenting with complex mental health needs. We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and motivated clinician who is excited about working within a busy acute hospital A&E department and on acute hospital wards. You need to have the ability to work flexibly, autonomously, and possess effective communication skills, as you will be liaising in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a wide range of professional colleagues, including VCSE partners. You will receive regular, high-quality management and clinical supervision and appraisal, and will have access to development and training opportunities aligned with the team and service delivery model. Main Duties of the Job

This Band 6 post is open to registered professionals including: mental health nurses, dual qualified nurses, OT's, and social workers. Liaising with staff in the acute hospital, supporting them with the management of the mental health and well-being of patients who have been admitted for physical health care but who require support with new or existing mental health needs. Responding to referrals asking for a mental state assessment for people presenting with an acute mental health problem in A&E or on the ward. There are clear response times and targets for the Team, which you will support us to continue to achieve. Being professionally accountable & responsible for giving specialist advice & support to facilitate the mental health care given to patients in the acute hospital. Presenting the views of patients and carers to the clinical teams in the acute hospital to facilitate collaborative working between all parties. Liaising with other professionals & agencies in the facilitation of safe & effective plans of mental health care. Liaising with other professionals and agencies in the development & facilitation of safe & effective discharge plans - reducing hospital lengths of stay & readmission. Promoting the principles of the Recovery Model & Trauma Informed Care. Enhancing knowledge & skills in the field of mental ill health for staff employed in acute hospitals through the provision of specialist advice & training. About Us

Experience of working in Liaison Psychiatry is desirable but not essential; however, some community experience would be of benefit to any interested applicant. 18 months post-qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework is essential. Qualifications

RNMH, current professional registration with NMC or current professional registration with the appropriate body in health and social care. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. Student assessor/Mentor as specified by registered profession. Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescale). Student mentor (or must be achieved within agreed timescale). Experience

Experience with the assessment and care of adults and older people in mental health. 18 months post-qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework. Experience providing care across a range of settings e.g. acute hospitals, acute mental health units, care homes, etc. Knowledge

Demonstrate knowledge to post-graduate level of evidence-based practice in caring for patients in the designated field and a knowledge of co-morbidities in relation to acute and chronic conditions. The Trust's Quality Improvement System. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
