The role of a Senior Mental Health Practitioner/Supervisor (SMHP) within the MHST is varied, with key components including:
You will be expected to hold a small clinical caseload of Children and Young People with low to moderate mental health concerns. You will work within the Early Interventions Service model within CAMHS, providing up to 10 sessions to CYP.
You will provide clinical supervision to the education mental health trainees/practitioners (EMHPs) in line with the university training on supervising. Attendance and successful completion of the CYP-IAPT supervisory course is part of the expected job description and delivery of this role.
You will offer consultation and advice to schools working with MHST, being a key link between the education setting and MHST. This includes signposting to other services and providing up-to-date resources and guidance.
The post holder will be expected to develop close working relationships with key partner agencies in their locality, including GP practices, schools, public health, and social care professionals.
