Please note this is a full-time role working 38.5 hours per week, on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern - Week 1: 09:30 – 21:00 / Week 2: 10:30 – 22:00. Working as part of the senior path laboratory team to deliver accurate and timely results to our customers, to maintain quality standards and to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement. Responsibilities:

Adhering to documented procedures in the Quality System for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained. Reading plates, confirmation and validation of analytical results as required. Running any equipment required for analysis such as PCR, Pathatrix, and ELISA. Reporting and/or calculation of results in accordance with the methods of analysis. Maintaining turnaround time at >99%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved. Ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment. Being familiar with laboratory FGS software and understanding and implementing processes relating to sample/test data entry. Ensuring personal protective clothing equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy. Working with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement. Having detailed knowledge of the Laboratory Quality Manual to ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures, and associated documents referred to in the manual. Assisting through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard. Being present during external audits (UKAS/RSA etc.). Actively supporting the laboratory management team in the maintenance of the quality system and procedures within the path lab. Providing a high level of internal and external customer care. Assisting the laboratory management team in the delivery of training for path lab staff. Undertaking audits within the laboratory as and when required and advising the Laboratory Manager without delay of any problems affecting operations in the laboratory. Liaising with Customers and customer service e.g., ASM’s to ensure relevant communication is given to customers in line with their SLA. Minimum Requirements:

Degree or equivalent in Microbiology. Strong knowledge of path lab activities. Knowledge of equipment used in the laboratory and ability to conduct daily calibrations. Knowledge of UKAS and ISO methods. Competence in IT, including eLIMS. Knowledge of customers and sample matrices, including specific requirements on how to handle the samples. Experience in NCW/Complaints/Environmental Monitoring. Full commitment to meeting customer expectations. A passion for providing a safe working environment. Ability to effectively communicate across departments. Ability to organise others to achieve TAT expectations.
