Hays Technology is proud to be working in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council (SBC) who are looking to appoint a Senior Network Engineer to join their Shared ICT team. Are you a tech-savvy professional looking to make a real impact in a dynamic local authority? This is your chance to play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of their IT infrastructure! Key Responsibilities: Expert Technical Support: Provide advanced-level support for networks, telephony, and IT infrastructure, resolving complex issues that go beyond 1st and 2nd line support. Networking Infrastructure: Development, management and upgrades to network infrastructure such as Cisco and HP network switches, Kemp load balancers, and Cisco ACI hardware. Familiarity with leased line provider NTUs and routers. Use of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, spanning tree). WAN technologies such as SD-WAN. Network traffic prioritisation using QoS to ensure voice quality. System Improvement: Conduct in-depth analyses and implement solutions to enhance our IT systems and processes. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain technical documentation and conduct training sessions to empower your colleagues. Project Participation: Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects, contributing your expertise to drive business change. Who You Are: Experienced Professional: You have a strong background in Cybersecurity, Networks, Telephony, or IT infrastructure. Theoretical Knowledge and Third-party Network and Telephony Software: A comprehensive understanding of one or more technical specialisations and their practical application within a Local Authority context is essential. Problem Solver: Your analytical skills enable you to diagnose and resolve complex IT challenges efficiently. Effective Communicator: You can convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Qualifications: Degree or equivalent experience in IT or a related field.
