Senior Occupational Therapist - Band 6 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Part time - 19 hours per week (Monday to Friday) We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist to work within the Adult Occupational Therapy Service for a one year fixed term contract. The post holder will provide a specialist occupational therapy service to clients living in their own home or a residential care setting for complex cases, formulating and implementing intervention plans aimed at reducing the impact of disability and ill health. As an autonomous practitioner, you will be responsible for enabling the client to achieve and maintain a level of independent functioning in order to remain at home or the most appropriate alternative community setting. You will be required to: Apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the clients’ social and physical environment. Identify and develop your own area of specialism and expertise, and contribute to the resource base within the Occupational Therapy Service and other professional groups. Independently manage a caseload of clients with complex needs. Provide and contribute to the development of an effective Occupational Therapy Service by demonstration of clinical reasoning through assessment and management of patients referred to the service ensuring a high professional standard of care. Perform occupational analysis and risk evaluation leading to the formulation of intervention options which reduce the consequence of disability and optimise the service user’s functional ability and independence. Use a range of standardised and non-standardised assessment tools and techniques to identify presenting strengths and difficulties. Refine treatment techniques in line with the most recent evidence of clinical effectiveness by evaluating and implementing key developments and promoting discussion within the Occupational Therapy Service. Devise occupational therapy programmes which may be implemented and supported by other members of the multidisciplinary team. Fulfil legal requirements and demonstrate clinical reasoning within documentation. Actively ensure the implementation of and adherence to issues associated with clinical governance, policies and procedures of Bromley Healthcare and the Standards of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. Use a client centred goal-focused approach using a range of specialist treatment interventions, and continually evaluate these in order to determine further needs. Offer assessment, advice and recommendations to clients, carers and/or other professionals regarding specialist Occupational Therapy equipment for the promotion of independence and safety. Instruct clients and their carers in the safe use of this and either arrange provision via Social Services or advise on private purchase or provision by other agencies. Person specification

Qualifications

Degree in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent relevant qualification Training relevant in physical rehabilitation Professional Registration

HCPC Registration Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Training

Evidence of Continuing Professional Development Moving and Handling and Specialist Seating expertise Skills

Knowledge of primary and secondary occupational therapy in a community setting Current driving licence Knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention relevant to client group Knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to current practice Able to work autonomously and set own priorities Understanding of clinical governance Current UK driver’s license with access to a car for work purposes Knowledge of skills used in a community setting Evidence of contributing to Audit and evaluation Experience
