We are recruiting an enthusiastic, forward-thinking team player to join our dynamic Integrated Urgent Crisis Response service (IUCRS). IUCRS is a multi-disciplinary admission avoidance service.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is motivated to achieve their full potential. Clear clinical reasoning and good assessment skills are essential. It is preferable that you have experience of working in a community setting, although we welcome applicants with all levels of experience.

It is expected that you will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with a variety of service users of different age groups, and have good self-management skills. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical and leadership skills and be actively involved in service development.

It is essential that you are a car driver with access to a vehicle for work as you will be expected to travel across the North East Essex area.

This is a fixed-term post until 31/03/2026.

Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.

Main Duties of the Job

The key objectives for this post are to provide care and support to patients within their own home, avoiding the need for them to come into hospital for admission.

You will be responsible for managing patients with a range of conditions including neurological, orthopaedic (trauma & elective), respiratory, and elderly rehabilitation.

You will be working as part of an integrated team with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Associate Practitioners, Assistant Practitioners, Community Support Workers, Community Matrons, and other specialist services.

Main Duties

To utilise clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat, and refer patients. To recognise the need for and refer to the appropriate specialisms. To exhibit excellent nonverbal and verbal communication skills when dealing with patients and carers. To have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively. To maintain appropriate clinical records in line with current practice guidelines. To be able to work flexibly over a 7-day service.

Essential

Proven experience working within the relevant care group.

Desirable

Competencies relevant to specialism. Experience of managing the work of others.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC. Professional knowledge and skills acquired through a combination of formal training, short courses, and experience to degree level or equivalent. Relevant post-qualification training through short courses and/or further study and experience, for example, sensory integration working towards postgraduate level of study. Evidence of ongoing CPD.

Desirable

Registered member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. Recognised registered qualification and further courses and experience relevant to the role.

Knowledge

Essential

Good theoretical and practical knowledge of a broad range of assessments including specialist relevant to the specialist care group and the relative benefits of each. Good knowledge of a range of specialist therapeutic interventions relevant to the care group including the relative benefits of each and the comparative outcomes.

Skills

Essential

Specialist skills and techniques relevant to the care group. Supervise the work of students, assistants, and volunteers. Prioritise own and others' workload, delegating appropriately.
