University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the integrated therapy team at Mount Gould Hospital, Plymouth. The inpatient service works within the community hospital setting with a rehabilitation focus as part of the intermediate care pathway. The team supports patients with appropriate treatment and intervention while working closely with other community services to facilitate discharge. This post would suit Band 5s looking to specialise or current Band 6s who would like to broaden their practice. The successful post holder will work alongside the existing team and service lead, supporting the operational management of therapy provision across two wards on site. The candidate will be joining a well-established team in delivering Occupational Therapy interventions to patients as part of the wider multidisciplinary unit and will have support from experienced clinicians who are specialists in their field. Applicants should have a broad range of experience, including post-graduate experience in the treatment of patients within the medical specialty; understanding of community working would be beneficial. Main duties of the job

Manage a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence-based, patient-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions. Work within the Therapy Team as part of the MDT on Kingfisher and Skylark wards, Local Care Centre, Mount Gould Hospital. Visit in-patients’ homes and other community settings. Provide leadership for Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Support Workers through line management and appraisal processes. Contribute to the maintenance and development of the OT service. Deputise in the absence of the OT Team Leader and carry out management and administrative duties when appropriate. Supervise OT students on practice placements. Work flexibly within set times Monday – Friday. Aim to provide 7 x day working across service as staffing allows. Participate in annual OT rotation across Kingfisher and Skylark wards. Participate in bank holiday working rota. Hold a clinical caseload and prioritise work on a daily basis. Provide support for Band 5 and Band 3 OT staff. Complete regular line management, including appraisals with OTs and OT Support Workers. Deputise for the OT Team Leader under certain circumstances. Knowledge and Experience

Extensive demonstrable experience in the Physical field. Postgraduate experience within a large clinical setting. Experience with a wide range of medical conditions. Knowledge & experience of OT assessments and interventions relevant to these patient groups, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning. Experience managing own caseload. Experience working with other members of the MDT. Experience supervising and appraising staff and students of all grades and levels. Wider knowledge of recent issues within a large clinical setting. Completion of fieldwork educator training. Attendance of postgraduate training and courses related to this post. Experience teaching other members of the MDT team in both internal and external settings. Experience delivering patient education. Experience of the recruitment process. Experience in audit/service development. Experience working in an acute clinical setting. Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy. Ability to maintain own development. HCPC registration. Attendance of relevant additional courses.
