An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to work in our Complex Disability Team. The post holder will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of children with a range of conditions. Children are seen in various settings, including family homes and education settings; therefore, the ability to travel between settings is essential for this role. Team-working is an important part of this role, and you will regularly work with other disciplines and services, including social care and education. We have an excellent supervision and support structure, and you will receive a full induction on commencement of the post. The successful applicant will have gained experience at band 5 level in core rotations and have some postgraduate experience of working in paediatrics and be familiar and confident with assessment and treatment of a full range of paediatric conditions. Main duties of the job
Assess and treat own caseload of paediatric patients and maintain associated records. Responsible for training & development of junior staff, students, and other staff groups in this specialty. Supervise less experienced staff, assistants, and students. Participate as a member of the therapy team and the MDT within a specified clinical area. Responsible for own CPD and other developmental activities. Involve in identifying and carrying out departmental audit, research, or service development activity in line with local and national guidelines. Participate in providing 7-day services and extended working day, as required by the service. About us

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
Graduate Diploma or BSc Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification recognised by HCPC (or student Occupational Therapist with qualification pending). HCPC registration. Appropriate experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist. Core rotations as a Band 5 Therapist in a range of core areas: Orthopaedics, Medical or Frailty Inpatients, Neurological Rehabilitation. Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists or similar. Knowledge and Skills
Basic computer skills. Additional Qualifications, Experience & Training
Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Active collection of relevant CPD in portfolio. High level of clinical reasoning with excellent theoretical knowledge underpinning practice. Demonstrate a good awareness of the needs of patients and appropriate action to take. Demonstrate awareness of the roles of others in providing patient care and ability to work as an effective team member. Experience supervising junior, students, or non-qualified staff. Well-developed theoretical knowledge underpinning Occupational Therapy practice. Good written and oral communication skills. Good analytical, problem-solving, and clinical reasoning skills. Knowledge and experience in hospital computer systems. Ability to communicate within difficult circumstances and demonstrate an empathetic approach to patients. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), analytical, problem-solving skills, and clinical reasoning. Understanding of national issues and relating them to own clinical practice.
