The role Fugro has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Oceanographer to join our talented Metocean Consultancy team based in our Wallingford office. You will be using meteorological and oceanographic data to provide metocean criteria for engineering design and marine operations for clients in the offshore, renewable energy and coastal engineering sectors. A good background in statistics is important. You are expected to coordinate the work of a small team. You will be responsible for the critical review of metocean data sources to select data that are fit for purpose, and the analysis of the data either by using existing software tools or by developing new analysis processes. Who we’re looking for: MSc in oceanography or marine related discipline, preferably PhD. Extensive experience in a relevant role. Experience in applying statistical techniques to analyse metocean conditions (such as extremes, operational stats and weather windows). Experience using Matlab and Python is desirable. Focused on accurate analysis and delivering high quality reports. Proficient in English (verbal and written). Highly organised, efficient and self-motivated. Team player.
