A fantastic new opportunity within the Ecology sector has just become available, available to consultant and senior level ecologists. Our client for this position is a nationally recognised environmental consultancy firm looking to bring in a new consultant or senior level ecologist to expand their 10-man ecology team. You'll have the chance to work in a multidisciplinary team alongside other ecologists and environmental consultants specialising in sectors such as air quality and acoustics, allowing you to diversify and develop your existing professional skillset. You'll be working across multiple sectors as you leave your mark on a wide range of engaging projects. As well as environmental specialists, you'll have the chance to work with designers and other landscape professionals to seamlessly blend ecology and design processes together.

Responsibilities:

As the new consultant or senior ecologist, your responsibilities are going to be focused around the delivery of top-quality fieldwork and technical report writing. You'll be expected to carry out key ecological surveys including protected species and UKHabs, produce technical reports such as PEAs, HRAs & EcIAs and liaise with new and existing clients, acting as a professional point of contact to provide advice and explanations to stakeholders when required. Having a sub-specialism in areas such as Botany or Ornithology, allowing you to carry out botanical and/or ornithological surveys would also be advantageous. Alongside the practical elements of the position, you'll also need to be able to prepare or assist in the preparation of fee proposals.

Requirements:

To be considered for the consultant or senior ecologist role, there is a list of criteria you will need to meet. These needs are split into essential (cannot be considered if multiple of these are not met) and desirable (not necessary but will aid in your application). In terms of the essential requirements for this consultant / senior role, you'll need at least 2 years' experience within a consultancy environment, be within a commutable distance of the office, strong working knowledge of standard ecological practices, techniques and reports, a familiarity with mapping tools such as GIS and a full, UK driver's license with access to your own vehicle. Additional traits that will help bolster your application include owning protected species licenses (particularly bat licenses), strong understanding and experience with EIA and HRAs, FISC trained, member of CIEEM, project management experience and river condition assessment trained.
