The School Transport Service provides a statutory function - working with parents, carers, transport operators, and schools to ensure that 14,000 eligible children get to and from school every day. We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Payment and Contract Officer to join our School Transport Finance Team. You will possess a high level of organisational skills, a flexible attitude, good communication skills, and a strong customer focus, as you will liaise with internal and external customers daily. You will demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative but also collaboratively as part of a team. Attention to detail, negotiation skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks are essential. You will demonstrate your knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office products (i.e., Excel, Sharepoint, Forms and preferably IBC Portal and Capita One, but training can be provided). As part of this role, you will support the Budget Manager in the day-to-day management of finance functions, ensuring that the service meets its contractual obligations and follows corporate guidance. Day-to-day tasks will include processing suppliers’ invoices, reviewing and developing processes, creating payment plans, liaising with other Local Authorities, applying inflationary contract changes, assisting in workload planning, assisting in budget monitoring, ordering goods and services, and dealing with financial queries, among other activities involved in this role. There will be a mix of office-based working, work from home, and from other locations in Hampshire. This post is subject to a Criminal Records Check.
