Senior Planner . The role: You will work proactively and professionally with all customers to provide a high quality development management experience within East Suffolk, and to manage, negotiate and assess planning applications and pre-application submissions in accordance with planning law, national and local policy and guidance. You will uphold the decisions of the council on planning applications via the appeal process, carry out some planning enforcement duties and take account of relevant legislation, policies and procedures of the council, and also assist the planning team to meet agreed targets and standards, including the mentoring of junior officers. What you will need: With full chartered RTPI membership (or immediately working towards submission of your APC), you should have a recognised qualification (to Masters degree level or equivalent) in town planning or a closely related discipline, as well as considerable experience of working in planning in either the public or private sector. You will have extensive, up to date knowledge of current planning working practices, development design, planning law and regulations, and leading on complex and/or major planning applications. Confidence in negotiation, the ability to foster robust working relationships, and strong analytical skills are all essential for this position.
