Safeguarding means protecting an adult’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is about people and organisations working together to prevent and address both the risks and experience of abuse or neglect, while promoting the adult’s wellbeing, including their views, wishes, feelings, and beliefs. About us
In Plymouth, we have integrated our Adult Social Care and Community Health services, provided by Livewell Southwest CIC. Some statutory functions under the Care Act 2014 have not been delegated. Plymouth City Council has an established team of Social Workers and Community Care Workers responsible for delivering these essential functions, including the statutory duty to safeguard adults from abuse or neglect. Our Adult Safeguarding Pathway is being developed to create a seamless response model between Plymouth City Council and Livewell Southwest teams. Role Overview
Our Safeguarding Team has a vacancy for a Senior Practitioner to contribute to delivering our safeguarding duty for the people of Plymouth. You will deputise in the absence of the Team Manager and assist in the professional management and leadership of the team, ensuring an effective and responsive service in accordance with current legislation and guidance. This includes providing legally literate and professional specialist advice, guidance, and practice supervision to a range of staff, holding complex high-priority cases, and chairing multi-agency meetings. You will need exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrate practice within a safeguarding framework. Applicant Requirements
We welcome applications from Registered Social Workers with a minimum of three years post-qualifying experience and a demonstrable CPD portfolio. Holding a BIA award is desirable, or a willingness to undertake this training. Benefits
We provide regular supervision and continuing professional development to support you in your role. You will be part of a committed, inclusive team with benefits including generous holiday entitlement, local government pension with employer contribution, and a discounted shopping scheme. Plymouth City Council is an equal opportunities employer. All applicants will be considered for employment regardless of age, care experience, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion/belief, sex, or sexual orientation. As part of our commitment to promoting equality, we offer guaranteed interviews to those who meet the essential criteria and are considered disabled, care experienced, or are Armed Forces Service Leavers within the last two years. We are a flexible employer and provide a variety of working arrangements tailored to the needs of each role.
