Main Duties and Responsibilities: Providing detailed safety plans with CYP who are showing signs of risk to self via self-harm and/or suicidal ideation, via telephone or MS Teams. Using risk assessments to understand YP level of risk. Providing support and intervention to manage YP risk. Escalating identified risks appropriately to safeguard the YP. Signposting YP risk to local services where appropriate. Liaising with other services to ensure YP gains appropriate harm minimisation advice. Maintaining detailed and timely record keeping of YP risk and support given. Supporting the wider staff team with day-to-day risk and clinical support where required. Delivering professional training where required. Supporting clinical record audits where required. Providing information calls to YP, professionals, and families where required. Utilising analytical skills, specialist knowledge, and experience to provide comprehensive assessments and formulations of presenting problems. Developing planned short-term interventions utilising various therapeutic perspectives. Delivering one-off or short-term therapeutic interventions to children and young people, working independently. Developing alternatives to one-to-one therapeutic work (e.g., group work, play therapy). Facilitating peer support for children and young people. Providing information, advice, guidance, and support as part of the single point of access function. Maintaining confidential case notes and records securely using specified case management systems. Developing links to other agencies and services for signposting and onward referrals. Supporting/covering other senior practitioners with tasks as required. Communication: Communicating and engaging with children and young people appropriate to individual needs. Ensuring young people feel listened to, in control, and respected. Liaising confidently with parents of CYP presenting with risk to support minimisation of harm. Communicating sensitively and compassionately with CYP and parents. Skills & Competencies Required: An experienced and qualified mental health practitioner supervisor used to a fast-paced environment. Experienced in working with children and young people across early intervention/mental health settings. Confident in supporting/intervening with children and young people presenting mild to moderate risk behaviours. Able to build strong therapeutic relationships in a short period of time. Positive and proactive to achieve the highest standards in engagement. Adept in communication with CYP, their parents/carers, and health professionals. Open, respectful, committed to equality and inclusiveness, and motivated by new ideas. A team player who can work independently using initiative and problem-solving skills. Able to manage own diary effectively. Any other duties appropriate to the role.
