Main Duties and Responsibilities: Utilising analytical skills, specialist knowledge and experience to provide a comprehensive assessment and formulation of the presenting problem, considering the child's educational attainment, chronological/developmental stage, inner world/emotional wellbeing, mental health & wellbeing of the child's parents/carers, family dynamics and environment, and the broader social context including school. Develop a planned short-term intervention utilising behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic, and systemic perspectives as indicated by the formulation, the needs of the client, and the evidence base. Deliver one-off or short-term therapeutic interventions to children and young people, working independently, which may at times mean lone working. Develop alternatives to one-to-one therapeutic work, such as group work and play therapy. Facilitate peer support with and for children and young people. Provide information, advice, guidance, and support as part of the single point of access function and support service with triage and assessment of CYP referrals. Maintain confidential case notes and records in a timely manner, ensuring that these are stored securely using the specified case management systems. Develop links to other agencies and services and have a good understanding of local services for signposting and onward referrals. Positively manage risk and recognise and proactively respond to child protection and safeguarding issues. Provide Clinical Supervision to a small counselling team. Communicate and engage with children and young people appropriate to individual needs, ensuring they feel listened to, in control, and respected. Skills & Competencies Required: An experienced and qualified mental health practitioner supervisor used to a fast-paced environment and supporting a team of counsellors. Experienced in working with children and young people across early intervention/mental health settings and engaging the whole family. Confident in supporting/offering interventions to children and young people presenting mild to moderate risk behaviours. Able to build strong therapeutic relationships in a short period of time. Positive and proactive to achieve the highest standards and outcomes in engagement with children, young people, their parents/carers, and professionals. Adept in communication and confident communicating with CYP (Children and Young People), their parents/carers, and health professionals. Open, respectful, committed to equality and inclusiveness, and motivated by new ideas and perspectives. A team player.
