Senior Pre-Construction Manager, Pre-Construction Project team

Are you keen to be part of a team directly responsible for the development, design, and construction of great logistic projects with the latest technology across EMEA countries? Are you seeking a fast-paced and growing environment to enjoy an invaluable experience, focused on innovating for our customers, along with the opportunity to learn from highly experienced professionals?

As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you will be part of the Design and Construction team (D&C) within AMZ Global Engineering services (GESS), with the long-term vision of shaping the future of the Construction Industry. Within D&C, we push the boundaries of possibility, driving innovative, standardized, and scalable solutions to deliver high-quality buildings to meet customer needs, with safety, people, and sustainability at the heart of what we do.

Key job responsibilities: You will independently manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection through design completion, permitting, and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and project stakeholders to contribute to team performance. You will keep the scope under control and accelerate progress by driving timely decisions, identifying and clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately. You will work with internal/external teams, driving results through communication, weighing risks, and making decisions. You will oversee professional service providers ensuring their skills meet the needs required for entitling property and projects. You will perform pricing reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions and negotiate costs with developers, general contractors, and design consultants. You will estimate costs, manage Due Diligences, and forecast schedules, while identifying factors that may impede a successful project hand-over. You will supervise the implementation of Amazon’s safety programs and standards. You will drive accountability for results and insist on the highest standards from yourself and others. You will negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

A day in the life:

Each day you will represent AMZ and D&C GESS in ensuring the on-time and in-budget execution of Amazon construction projects, while strategically improving processes, costs, quality, and sustainability performance. You will lead and mentor large cross-functional teams as an expert technical and project management resource, motivating people at all levels to deliver. You will communicate across departments, serving as an authority on project issues and proposing solutions to gaps in project plans. You will understand and negotiate terms of contracts with developers, contractors, and consultants representing Amazon’s interests. Daily tasks may include site validation, due diligence, risk analysis, design management, contract negotiations, and stakeholder management. You will act as the primary escalation point for evaluating the feasibility of potential projects, owning and tracking issues to ensure they are documented and resolved.

About the team:

We are a diverse, upbeat, creative, and passionate team of designers, engineers, and project managers. We are owners of our scope and deliver results oriented. We are empowered to adapt our timeline for a better work/life balance.

D&C GESS Values:

SAFETY FIRST:

We continuously seek improvement and innovation in Safety, raising the bar above industry norms. PEOPLE OBSESSION:

We listen, promote diversity, and work together to achieve more while having fun. CHALLENGE THE NORM:

We challenge each other and the industry to try new methods and make a safer and more sustainable environment. MAKE AN IMPACT:

We leverage efficient time management to ensure high-quality execution alongside innovation. TRUST:

We build trust with our customers, making ambitious but realistic commitments.

Minimum Requirements:

A completed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a comparable field with solid demonstrable experience in related disciplines. Solid demonstrable project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation. Experience within packaging processing/logistical facilities with complex equipment is appreciated. Fluent in English and German; knowledge of other languages is welcome. Willingness to travel frequently through Europe, up to 30% of the time. Experience operating within at least two disciplines in the construction industry. Demonstrated capability in planning, design review & implementation, and project management/control. Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is preferred. Participation in a previous new FC Launch at Amazon is desired.

Amazon is an equal opportunities employer. We believe that employing a diverse workforce is central to our success. We make recruiting decisions based on your experience and skills. Protecting your privacy and the security of your data is a top priority for Amazon.
