You will be based in our office in Bristol. Job Description As a Senior / Principal Engineer, you will be pivotal in driving the delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects and will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will use those attributes to mentor and support junior team members. Key Responsibilities: Bridge design, both in the UK, Ireland and overseas, from feasibility to construction stage Bridge management Bridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments General civil and structural engineering support to other teams Feasibility studies and options appraisals Preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, scheme feasibility studies and outline cost estimates Coordinate and manage engineering activities so that they result in civil / structural schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality Manage resources, junior engineers and CAD technicians, to complete the deliverables Ensure allocated design and construction contracts include reference to and are compliant with appropriate standards, formal specifications and procedures Ensure compliance of engineering deliverables to Health and safety legislation, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 Identify and share best practice across the various project teams Support growth of the Structures Engineering team, recruitment of technical staff and manage the mentoring of junior engineers This role will involve working with Egis colleagues in Ireland, it may also include working on other projects internationally. This will predominantly be via remote conferencing and periodic travel. Qualifications Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment, gained from working on both construction sites and the design office Practical knowledge and experience of project management of bridge projects, team management and training Proficient in bridge modelling software such as Midas Civil Design of concrete, steel, and composite bridges Structural modelling and analysis Excellent understanding of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design and related regulations (CDM) Proven working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) in relation to structural schemes Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers Excellent engineering, analytical and problem-solving abilities Technical qualifications to degree in relevant subject BEng/MEng CITB CSCS scheme, or equivalent Desirable: An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works, including low carbon design Bridge Inspections Bridge Remedial Design Parametric Modelling Preparation of contract documents and BOQs Construction Supervision Design of steel/concrete elements in building and civil structures ITS Civils Design Rail, Tunneling, Ports experience Additional Information We are committed to our planet: In each project we design, engineer and operate we care deeply about the legacy we're leaving behind.
