We are recruiting multiple Senior and Principal Nuclear Safety Engineers at our Devonport site. The role As a Senior / Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. At Devonport Dockyard, Babcock supports the Royal Navy submarine fleet, with a number of operational nuclear and radiological facilities for the upkeep and maintenance of submarines. For the foreseeable future, Babcock is significantly upgrading the Devonport site and as such you will have the opportunity to support the design and build of new submarine maintenance facilities. Day to day, you’ll support the business by providing your expert knowledge around safety engineering to ensure the upkeep of our nuclear submarine facilities. Provide technical advice on nuclear safety assessment processes and policy Ensure compliance with statutory legislation Deliver nuclear safety cases Develop and implement nuclear safety processes and standards Act as an intelligent customer for 3rd party deliverables assuring the output is fit for purpose This role is full time at 36 hours a week with a hybrid working structure and will be based at Devonport Royal Dockyard. Essential experience of the Senior / Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer: A background in nuclear/radiological safety Good interpersonal skills and competence in verbal and written communication The ability to operate and interface effectively with senior stakeholders Qualifications for the Senior / Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer: Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience Chartered Engineer status is desirable (or working towards this) Security Clearance Applicants must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
