We are hiring a Senior Procurement Leader - Fresh Food & Coffee Excellence to join our team.

This position combines leadership in procurement with category expertise in fresh food and coffee. The role involves developing sourcing strategies, ensuring supplier quality, and optimizing costs while maintaining the highest standards for freshness, sustainability, and flavour excellence.

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months with the potential to extend or be a full-time role depending on the business requirement.

Your Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Category Strategy Development

Design and implement procurement strategies for fresh food to go & food tech product ranges; hot drinks & coffee that align with business goals.

Drive innovation and differentiation in these categories to meet consumer trends and preferences.

Take ownership of the category performance of our Hot Drinks & Fresh Food to go Category in UK&I, driving sales per machine per day (SMD) growth and ensuring profitability.

Strategic Collaboration

Work closely with the Group Procurement Hot Drinks Leader to develop and execute a comprehensive category strategy tailored specifically to the UK&I market.

Effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners to ensure flawless execution of strategy.

Implement the ONE Selecta Coffee Strategy aimed at increasing revenue and gross margin, with a primary focus on strengthening the position and growth of Selecta's Coffee Brands in the UK&I market.

Translate market trends and client needs into profitable products and concepts, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.

Innovation and Product Development

Partner with product development teams and suppliers to introduce new offerings in coffee blends and fresh food categories.

Stay ahead of market trends and consumer demands.

Supplier Relationship Management

Establish and nurture partnerships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and long-term value.

Negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms, sustainability commitments, and consistent quality.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with key strategic partners and suppliers, fostering collaborative efforts and ensuring mutual success.

Procurement Process Leadership

Implement procurement process & strategies in close collaboration with the Selecta Ireland team, specific to this market.

Establish & develop procurement process & strategies to support the Selecta Wholesale team.

Implement ONE Selecta procurement strategies & contracts locally to the UK&I market.

Provide procurement process expertise & guidance to other departments including support for new supplier set up and the Delegation of Authority processes.

Sustainability and Ethics

Ensure sourcing practices support sustainability goals, such as fair-trade coffee, organic certifications, and reduced food waste.

Lead initiatives to integrate ethical sourcing and environmentally friendly practices.

Quality Assurance

Work with quality assurance teams to ensure suppliers meet high standards for freshness and product integrity.

Implement robust processes for vendor performance monitoring and improvement.

Cost and Inventory Optimization

Balance cost management with maintaining the quality and availability of products within the assigned categories.

Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimise inventory levels, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.

Risk Management

Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, such as supply disruptions or seasonal variability.

Minimum Requirements:

Category Expertise - Deep understanding of the fresh food and coffee industries, including sourcing, supply chain, and market dynamics.

Strategic Thinking - Ability to align procurement strategies with organizational objectives and market opportunities.

Negotiation Skills - Expertise in securing optimal supplier agreements and driving win-win outcomes.

Analytical Skills - Proficiency in using data to inform decisions, analyse supplier performance, and track category trends.

Sustainability Knowledge - Familiarity with certifications (e.g., Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance) and best practices in sustainable sourcing.

Leadership - Strong people management and communication skills to inspire teams and influence stakeholders.

Proven ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships and drive mutual value.

Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, conduct comprehensive analysis, and derive actionable insights to inform decision-making.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear articulation of ideas and strategies across various stakeholders.

Ability to work independently with a high sense of responsibility, managing multiple priorities and driving results in a fast-paced environment.
