About the role: Our new Senior Production Engineer position will involve analysing and implementing production processes, equipment, and procedures, leading productivity improvements/events with project-based activities. Projects will include new product integration with a vision to reduce waste at all times. The ideal candidate will be a high-calibre leader with the ability to drive change to meet our long-term growth plans. It would suit an individual who is proactive and can work under their own initiative, as well as collaborate with various departments within the business, instilling best practices in production engineering activities. Main Responsibilities: Manage governance and review processes to ensure that manufacturing and engineering align and support across the product design, manufacture, test, and in-service support phases of the product life cycle, adhering to strict SHEQ/ISO Standards. Project management of production improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing Processes or Continuous Improvement Principles & Tools. Identify business-wide improvement opportunities within the organisation using appropriate LEAN tools to develop alternative production methods. Work with the Operations, Engineering, and R&D departments to develop manufacturing solutions to meet growing volumes in a high mix production environment. Support Operations in solving problems that affect production delays. Identify methods for assessing the capabilities of processes and develop/maintain policies and procedures to support. Develop and maintain required controlled processes, documentation, and business systems. Support the development of a risk-based approach to product and business improvement utilising PFMEA where applicable. Conduct manufacturing safety risk assessments for any new equipment, assembly aids, or processes introduced. Identify, analyse, and report on relevant KPIs or metrics to relevant stakeholders throughout the engineering and production departments. Develop alternative production methods for existing components using Lean tools and techniques. Value engineering on products and processes to reduce costs. Provide manufacturing support and expertise on new product/process integration programmes, overcoming technical issues that may impede output. Develop budgets and manage operations within strict budgetary and operational time constraints. About the person: To be a successful candidate for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following attributes and skillsets: A HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent experience in production/manufacturing, engineering, and quality critical environment. Strong proven and demonstrable experience of lean and continuous improvement principles; 5S, FMEA, VSM, Process flow, A3 Problem solving, etc. Excellent IT skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft Project. Critical thinking, with the ability to evaluate product and process designs and propose improvements. Able to work in a dynamically changing environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Process-driven mindset. Able to work closely with peers at a senior level. A willingness to learn and develop with a ‘can do’ attitude. Initiative-taker willing to work independently and within a team. Willingness to take ownership of the roles and responsibilities. Desirable: Experience in effective project management. Black Belt Certification. Experience in the use of CAD packages. Electrical knowledge and/or testing. Physical Demands & Work Environment: Desk-based role working in a large open plan, well-lit, air-conditioned office. Working as part of the wider Operations Team within a modern state-of-the-art manufacturing factory. Operating in a pressured environment where there is a requirement to deliver projects with accuracy, on time, within budget, and within quality standards. Working at any MSI or MSI associated facilities as and when required. Potential need to occasionally travel in the UK and internationally.
