You will need to have a keen interest in working within the site investigation/survey field and on the condition assessment and remedial design of existing structures. There will also be a requirement to carry out first principles load capacity assessments of existing structures.
You will need to hold a full UK driving licence, with significant experience as an Engineer working on existing buildings and/or refurbishment schemes. A degree level qualification in a relevant field is required and you will be at or working towards Chartered membership of a relevant institute. Experience with surveying, non-destructive testing and material sampling and testing is preferable.
The main roles and responsibilities will include the following over a range of investigation projects, with multiple projects running concurrently: Meeting with our Project Managers, Site Investigation Teams and Clients to identify engineering project requirements. Developing detailed project plans to guide our Project Managers, Site Investigation Teams and Clients and revising, based on changing needs and requirements, as the projects progress. Communicating complex engineering instructions and results to Clients and colleagues. Working effectively with relevant collaborators for efficient project implementation. Compiling and submitting engineering project status reports to clients, management and other collaborators. Carrying out first principles load capacity assessments of existing structures. Compiling technically sound and comprehensive investigation reports, including interpretative components for datasets/testing, as well as recommendations for repair/remediation and further investigation or assessment. Carrying out extended service life assessments and producing structure life care plans. Developing Client partnerships and attending Client workshops. Contributing to ongoing improvement of the company and assisting with implementing efficiencies where appropriate. Training Engineers, maintaining CPD diary and providing engineering mentorship. Maintaining all relevant H&S and supervisor training certification and always work safely and competently in accordance with GBG Group's H&S procedures. Development Options (with support) Working on projects across the globe and within new markets. Field methodology, including troubleshooting & data quality assessment for multiple NDT and Intrusive methods - directing site investigation works. Investigation data processing and interpretation skills for multiple methods using various software on projects. Increased competency in carrying out extended service life assessments and producing structure life care plans, repair/remedial measures. Project Manager/Technical Director skillsets. H&S assessment skillsets. Commercial awareness. Business development and sales. Other Information Starting salary 55k-75k/year dependent on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to travel to sites within the UK. Opportunities are available to support other divisions abroad on occasion. Full time: 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and evening site survey works optional (dependent on Client requirements).
