Overview As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead and manage electrical engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to profit margins, schedule, and quality standards. Projects will mainly involve LV switchgear and generator control work. You will be required to produce timely and accurate quotations of your engineered design and assist with other projects. You will use strong technical expertise in electrical engineering principles, excellent project management skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams internal & external to the business. Key Responsibilities Project Management: Lead and manage electrical engineering projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure successful project execution. Technical Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of switchgear control, current products, electrical engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards to develop innovative solutions and overcome technical challenges. Design and Development: Lead the design and development of new systems, upgraded/retrofit components and systems/other modifications, ensuring compliance with safety standards and client requirements. Client Interaction: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding technical inquiries, project updates, and deliverable reviews, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, and other documentation such as manuals to support project requirements and ensure accurate record-keeping. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects and develop effective risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes. You will be able to produce/assist with Risk and Method Statements. Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure that designs and deliverables meet or exceed established standards and specifications in line with the company's Business Management System. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including external engineers and site managers, to ensure the smooth and timely integration of the electrical system into overall project designs and achieve project objectives. Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers/technicians, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment conducive to professional growth and development. Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and actively seek training opportunities to enhance technical expertise and improve project methodologies. Experience The successful candidate will have: Minimum of 5 years of experience in LV electrical engineering, with a proven track record of successful project management. Demonstrate appropriate underpinning knowledge in the form of academic qualifications (e.g., Degree/HNC) or relevant industry experience. Proficiency in electrical design software tools such as AutoCAD/Schnieder software. Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., BSI, NEC, IEC). Knowledge of G99 application and approval process & liaison with National Grid, DNOs. Ability to thrive in a close-knit fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
